UnLoop support
Help for the Chrome extension and the iPhone and Mac apps.
Start with the help below. It covers turning on the Safari extension and the problems people run into most.
Turn on the Safari extension
These steps are general, not a screen by screen guide. Menu names change between iOS and macOS versions, so follow the names you see on your device.
On iPhone
- Get UnLoop from the App Store.
- Find UnLoop in the Safari extension settings on your iPhone and turn it on.
- Open YouTube in Safari. The home feed should have no Shorts shelf.
On Mac
- Get UnLoop from the Mac App Store.
- In Safari's settings, find UnLoop in the list of extensions and switch it on.
- Open YouTube in Safari and check the home feed. There should be no Shorts shelf.
Common issues
- Shorts still show in the YouTube app
- Safari extensions work in Safari, not inside the YouTube app. Watch YouTube in Safari instead.
- Shorts still show in Safari
- Check that UnLoop is still turned on in the Safari extension settings, then reload the page.
- The Shorts tab is still there
- In Chrome, open the extension's popup and check that Hide Shorts tab is switched on. It is off by default. Hide the Shorts tab is a Chrome feature, so it is not available on iPhone or Mac.
- A Pro feature is missing
- Pro features need the iPhone or Mac app and the Apple subscription. The Chrome extension is free and does not include them.
Questions about setup
Does UnLoop block Shorts inside the YouTube app?
No. For YouTube, UnLoop works in Chrome and in Safari, and it does not change the YouTube app. On iPhone, open YouTube in Safari to use it.
How do I turn on the UnLoop Safari extension?
Install the app, then turn on UnLoop in Safari's extension settings on iPhone or Mac. Menu names change between versions, so follow the names you see on your device.
